American Cruise Lines is delighted to announce a new cruise itinerary that visits most of the major battlefields of the Civil War. The innovative Civil War Battlefields Cruise package departs May 3th, 2024, from New Orleans, LA, and concludes on June 6th in Gettysburg, PA. Along the way, this 35-Day itinerary extends over 12 states and the District of Columbia and all three major theaters of the war. Each day will highlight battlefields and events from Fort Sumter and Shiloh to Vicksburg and Antietam. Port visits offer a chance to visit key locations such as Fort Sumter, Antietam National Battlefield and Bull Run.
Passengers will begin their journey on American Melody and transfer to two other vessels, American Symphony and American Eagle, during the voyage, allowing them additional access to locations that were crucial to the war. Transportation between ships and waterways is provided and included in the price.
Expert speakers who will discuss both sides of the war. Hosted by Bertram Hayes-Davis, the great-great-grandson of Jefferson Davis, who served as the president of the Confederate States of America from 1861-1865, the sailing will offer a rare perspective.
