Uniworld is expanding beyond the river by adding rail-only tours and some cruise and rail tours for 2021 and 2022. Uniworld president and CEO Ellen Bettridge said that the brand is hoping to bring its river experiences to guests for the “best travel opportunities to fully immerse themselves in remarkable experiences.” "Uniworld is excited to be expanding into a new style of travel while continuing to offer the same unforgettable experiences that are exclusive to Uniworld." Uniworld has introduced cruise and rail tours in 2021 between Venice and Zurich by launching its first river-rail trips in Italy and Switzerland in combination with some of its sailings on the Venice-based S.S. La Venezia. In 2022, it will continue by offering river-rail options through Hungary, Italy, Turkey, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria. Passengers can choose from either a pre-cruise rail option for a 12-night trip starting with a one-night hotel stay in Budapest or a post-cruise rail option for an 11-night trip starting in Passau. This itinerary features a visit to three castles, including dinner at Bran Castle, celebrated in the fable of Dracula, and a stop at Cluj-Napoca, the capital of the Transylvania region. Uniworld’s second new Cruise & Rail itinerary provides another option for Venice, connecting with the new S.S. La Venezia. Along with the current four-night Zurich to Venice Cruise & Rail itinerary offered for 2021 and 2022, Uniworld also will a launch Venice to Istanbul trip for eight nights, and reverse, from July to September. This itinerary will include a two-night hotel stay in Istanbul and visits to nine countries, including Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria. The initial offerings will take guests on luxury train trips from Moscow to Vladivostok aboard a Trans-Siberian rail-only tour on the Gold Eagle Express. The tour will offer guests the chance to see the Urals mountain range along the coast of Lake Baikal, just north of the Mongolian border. The tour includes a guided walk along the streets of Moscow, dining in Café Pushkin, a visit to the Kremlin Fortress and the Opera House in Lenin Square, and more. Guests will ride across Russia from east to west through the Urals mountain range and along the shore of Lake Baikal, the largest freshwater lake in the world. On this itinerary, guests can explore the streets of Moscow, dine in Café Pushkin and sip Russian Champagne at Moscow Kazansky Station. In Kazan, guests will visit the Kremlin Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site and travel to Novosibirsk where they will visit the iconic Opera House in Lenin Square. On the trans-Siberian train trip, a Uniworld representative will be present throughout, and the train will have a dedicated Uniword dining car serving up some of Bea Tollman’s most beloved dishes. Tollman is founder and president of Uniworld's luxury sister company Red Carnation Hotels. The tour will initially run on July 27, Aug. 6, and Aug, 21, including a one-night stay in the Four Seasons Hotel Moscow and the Lotte Hotel Vladivokstok. Uniworld River Heritage Club members (past guests) will get early access to the tours. Appealing? Want to plan a river cruise or cruise-rail tour for 2021 or 2022?
